Checking Application Status Online

If you have an application before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), you can check the status of your application online.

In order to check the status of a case online, you must have a receipt number. A receipt number is only issued when a person has submitted an application with USCIS. The number starts with three letters and is followed by ten numbers found on the top left corner of an I-797C, Notice of Action.

To check your case status online, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the USCIS homepage
  2. At the bottom right-hand side of the page, you should see a text box with the title "Check Case Status". Type in your receipt number and click "GO".
